Certificate Overview

Build a new career or advance your career in retail management! The certificate is designed to prepare students for career opportunities and upward mobility in the retail industry and is endorsed by the Western Association of Food Chains. The certificate course content and learning outcomes mirror those advocated by the National Retail Federation, thus is applicable for any retail sector.

TJC is the first community college in Texas to provide this endorsed academic program. Tyler Junior College offers a retail management certificate that can be completed within two years while working full or part time. All courses are college-level and apply to more advanced educational programs such as an associates degree in Business Management or a bachelors degree in Retail Enterprises or Business Management. Courses are available face-to-face at employer sites and the TJC campus; and, are nationally and internationally available via online formats.

While entry-level retail opportunities do not require formal education, advancement and higher earning positions require advanced knowledge supported by a college education. College graduates usually can enter directly into management training programs sponsored by their company, with limited experience.
