The National Grocers Association is a passionate advocate for the Retail Management Certificate Program and is excited to partner with the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC) to promote this extremely valuable program within our membership community.

Established in 2000 by the WAFC, the Retail Management Certificate is an accredited community college program that provides people with the core competencies to become successful managers and leaders in the retail industry. Since its beginning the program has grown from one community college to 135+ community colleges across the Western United States and one national online program. NGA pledged support in 2015 and has been aggressively marketing the program to NGA retailer members ever since.

National Grocers Association (NGA) is the national trade association representing the retail and wholesale grocers that comprise the independent sector of the food distribution industry. An independent retailer is a privately owned or controlled food retail company operating a variety of formats. The independent grocery sector is accountable for close to one percent of the nation’s overall economy and is responsible for generating $131 billion in sales, 944,000 jobs, $30 billion in wages, and $27 billion in taxes. NGA members include retail and wholesale grocers, state grocers associations, as well as manufacturers and service suppliers.
